Ethics Code

Our commitment to responsible intelligence practices.

1. Purpose & Scope

KLO Intel conducts exposure assessments using open-source intelligence (OSINT) techniques. This Ethics Code governs all assessment activities, data handling, and client interactions. Every team member is bound by these principles.

2. Consent-First Approach

We only assess individuals who have provided explicit, informed consent — either directly or through an authorised representative (e.g., corporate security team with employee consent). We never conduct assessments on individuals without their knowledge or agreement.

3. Proportionality

Our assessments are proportionate to the threat level and client needs. We do not engage in invasive surveillance, social engineering against third parties, or any activity that would compromise the privacy or safety of non-consenting individuals.

4. Data Minimisation

We collect only the personal data necessary to conduct the requested assessment. All collected data is classified, encrypted, and subject to strict retention limits. When an engagement ends, client data is purged according to our Data Purge Policy.

5. Legal Compliance

All KLO Intel activities comply with applicable laws including GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Computer Misuse Act 1990. We only use publicly available information and legitimate data broker APIs. We do not access private systems, bypass authentication, or engage in any form of unauthorised access.

6. Transparency

Clients receive full visibility into our methodology, data sources, and findings. We do not withhold information or present misleading risk assessments. If we identify a critical exposure, we communicate it immediately regardless of the assessment timeline.

7. No Offensive Operations

KLO Intel is strictly a defensive intelligence service. We do not conduct offensive operations, competitive intelligence gathering, or any activity designed to harm, harass, or disadvantage any individual or organisation.

8. Continuous Improvement

We regularly review and update our ethical framework in response to evolving threats, legal requirements, and industry best practices. This Ethics Code is reviewed quarterly by the KLO Intel leadership team.
